Layered cloth lampshades that create mesmerizing chiaroscuro elements...
A layered and adhered cloth (‘nuno’ in Japanese)
onto the surface of a resin-formed lampshade creates a lighting fixture that
blends into the interior like a decorative object when extinguished, and
creates complex and beautiful shadows when lit. Some points on the surface have
only one cloth layer, while others have up to 24 layers, providing a tonal
range of up to 24 gradations for the shadows.
Rather than arraying the shadows’ gradations geometrically, the experimental form
and layout creates a richly heterogeneous surface with a particular softness.
The nuno range includes six different pendant lamps, two table lamps and two
floor lamps.
