Whorl Console is an innovative concrete console table designed and made by Neal Aronowitz.
The console table is made of Concrete Canvas, a patented concrete-impregnated fabric rarely used in furniture design. It reduces the environmental impact of concrete applications by up to 95%. The surface consists of pigmented cement mortar lightly skim-coated over the entire surface, and sand for a very smooth, highly polished finish. Aronowitz used unique design and specialized casting techniques to achieve the table’s ribbon-like structure.
The Whorl series was to make a handcrafted piece that fits the definition of both sculptures and as functional furniture - an object intended for everyday use.
